RCID’s meeting with Waters Company (USA)

On April 6, 2023, the Research Center for Infectious Disease had a short meeting with Waters Corporations (USA) and discussed mass spectrometry technology application in natural products and proteomic research.  Established at the end of 2021, RCID has been recruiting strong researchers in biotechnology and biomedical technology for development, with the aim to develop and manufacture products towards the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Waters Company is one of the companies that provide technologies for chromatography, mass spectrometry, and thermal analysis. For more than 60 years, Waters has continuously innovated and improved these technologies for discovering new pharmaceuticals, assuring the safety of the world’s food and water supplies, or ensuring the integrity of a chemical entity in production.   Ms. Yanting Lim – Field Marketing Specialist, South-East Asia, Waters Corporation – presented about the application of chromatography and spectroscopy technology in studying natural products and proteomics, in food adulteration testing, detection and quantification of new pharmacologically valuable compounds in natural products. The company also showed how their innovations in mass spectrometry, Stepwaves and triwave technologies, can improve the experiment sensitivity, resolution and reduce noise.   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai – Vice Director of RCID – shared about the research directions of the center. In the coming time, the center will focus on research projects to evaluate natural active ingredients and research on bacterial proteom, working towards solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The two groups also discussed the analysis of mass spectrometry results of the composition of natural extracts   At the end of the meeting, the two parties expressed their desire for future collaboration to accelerate the research and development of medical and pharmaceutical products.   By RCID’s media team
