Applications of Lipidomics in Medical research

Seminar Applications of Lipidomics in Medical research On December 30, 2022, Associate Professor Nguyen Nam Long – Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore had an interesting meeting with lecturers, researchers and students of International University, VNU-HCM through a seminar with the topic “Application of Lipidomic in medical research”. During the 120-minutes seminar, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Nam Long focused on analyzing the role of transmembrane transporters (Spns2) and highlighting their characteristics through the results obtained in his study. First, he presents the role of S1P in the immune and circulatory systems, especially in fetal development in mice; then, the role of Mfsd2b and Spns2. Next, he also presented about the role of Spns1 in diseases related to the accumulation of substances in lysosomes (Lysosomal Storage Diseases). Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Nam Long also explains some important techniques used in the research. Thereby, the role of Lipidomics is also clarified when this method is applied to speaker research in general and Spns2 research in particular. The workshop took place successfully with the participation of researchers and students interested in the role of membrane transporters in health and disease, thereby bringing a lot of knowledge for the development of therapies in the future. The workshop provided more useful knowledge for participants, opening up many cooperation opportunities between RCID and NUS. By RCID’s media team

Research center for Infectious disease and Organoid Science Company (Korea) had a co-operation meeting on the application of Organoid technology in research

On the afternoon of April 4, 2023, Research Center for Infectious Diseases met and discuss with Organoid Science Company (Korea) on potential applications of organoid technology for medicinal herbs and biological active ingredients at International University, VNU-HCM. Research Center for Infectious Diseases, International University, VNU-HCM was established at the end of 2021. The center recruits strong researchers in the fields of biotechnology and biomedical technology for developing and manufacturing products to prevent and treat infectious diseases that are concerns of the whole society. Organoid Science was established in 2018 as the first innovation company in organoid-specialized drug development in Korea for developing incurable-disease treatments using organoids, which is the most advanced to regenerate human organs by 3D stem cell culture. Organoid Science develops and expands research labs, culture technologies, and application processes to find new treatment methods of incurable diseases. At the same time, the company also promotes the product process to invent novel products that meet current medical needs. In 2023, the company starts the project to build a representative office in Vietnam and focuses research cooperation with Vietnamese scientists. In the meeting, Dr. KyungJin Lee, Technology Director of Organoid Science Company, introduced about the company’s research and application areas such as organoid and tissue regeneration technology applied in medical treatment, survey, and evaluation of the efficacy of medicinal products. M.D, Ph.D Jongman Yoo, CEO of Organoid Science, has researched and published many scientific publications on the application of organoids in medical research. Mr. Yoo shared and hoped to cooperate with the center in the future. Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Phuong Thao, Director of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research, shared about the research directions of the center, introduced the core scientists and the topics carried out at the center. In the future, the center will promote the extraction of active ingredients with high biological activity, experiment at the in vitro scale, towards testing on animal models. Organoid Science representatives would like to coordinate and guide organoid culture process for the center’s researchers. At the end of the meeting, the parties affirmed their desire to cooperate in the future, develop common topics as well as exchange and guide technology to promote the research and development pharmaceutical products, meet the urgent needs of society.   By RCID’s media team
